“Milestones in Medicine”, Exhibit at Karpeles Manuscript Library

NEWBURGH, NY – The exhibit “Milestones in Medicine” will run through April 27, 2011 at the Karpeles Manuscript Library. The exhibit includes documents of William Harvey, discoverer of blood circulation; Edward Jenner, from his discovery of vaccination; Louis Pasteur, on rabies; and Francis Crick, discoverer of DNA function.

Other exhibits include the original manuscript of “The Elephant Man” from Frederick Treves; key documents from the Karpeles Manuscript Library’s Florence Nightingale Archive; Clara Barton’s announcement of the American Red Cross; and documents from Benjamin Franklin and others.

The Karpeles Manuscript Library is located at 94 Broadway in Newburgh, NY.  Hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, and noon-4 p.m. on Sundays. Admission is free.
