I grew up reading Dr. Seuss. In 1st grade he visited my class room. My Only recollection of it was that he was really tall (aren’t all adults from a first graders perspective?) and that he did not look cartoonish at all (disappointed).
My two favorites were Green Eggs and Ham and The Cat in The Hat. I think I liked them because of all the craziness that went on, who could eat with a fox in a box or on a rickety old train. That cat and his Thing One and Thing Two, now there was a group that knew how to have a good time. Recently I came across a quote by Dr. Seuss
I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living, It’s a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope. Which is what I do, And that enables you to laugh at life’s realities.
I like the fact that over forty years later there is something that Dr. Seuss can relate that can still make think “yeah that’s cool”
Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss! Today you would be 107 – a testament to the benefits of a diet consisting of Green Eggs and Ham.
