Two-Minute Poetry Break – So that’s it? by Avram Ohm

So That’s It?

Rote familiarity
The antidote to passion
toothpaste squeezed
from the middle of the tube

Socks that don’t match
Talking without listening
Each season a decade

Iron bars forged on the anvil
of happily ever after
surround the gilded cage
designed by Vatican architects

Expectation, judgment
everything is the same
nothing is different
no one is special

Who are you to think that?
What gives you the right?

Boredom spelled
with a capital you and me

We all die
So that’s it?

Well, hot damn
Why didn’t I think of that?
