Strawberries by Kate McNairy – Featured Poem At The DYSTENIUM Online Community

Strawberries are
plump
in between rows,
full of June,
I see you.

Last night
lightning,
so silent
it crackled.
This is the
way it is
in darkness.

Wrap around stars.
Keep coming morning sun.
Keep coming morning star.

We pick ripened
berries in heat.
You eclipse me,
you are faster.
Take me home.
I’m in this forever.

I’ve eaten luscious
strawberries
leafy stems
and all.
